Abstract


Dental caries in children is closely related to the consumption pattern of cariogenic foods or drinks such as sweet, soft, sticky food or drinks that contain sugar, soda, or acid. Sanimah Islamic Kindergarten implements eating together every day, but counseling about healthy food has never been done. The results of the preliminary survey showed that almost every day the children did not attend school because of toothaches. The importance of educating non-cariogenic healthy foods from an early age will become a concept that builds awareness and forms habits in choosing and consuming healthy foods in life. Education in the form of training and counseling about non-cariogenic healthy food will be carried out to teachers and parents of students at Sanimah Islamic Kindergarten. There was a significant difference between the level of knowledge of teachers before and after education regarding non-cariogenic healthy food (p <0.05). As many as 69% of parents have a good level of knowledge after counseling. Teachers and parents have a good level of ability in teaching healthy non-cariogenic food selection (100%). There is an increase in the level of knowledge among teachers, and parents have a good level of knowledge about non-cariogenic healthy foods. Teachers and parents can teach the selection of healthy non-cariogenic foods well.
