Abstract

Background: New cases of HIV among the adolescent population continue to increase every year, yet their HIV AIDS knowledge level is still low. DKI Jakarta is the province with the highest number of HIV AIDS cases in Indonesia. Purpose: Increase the comprehensive knowledge of HIV AIDS and students' attitudes using the educative game YARSI HIV AIDS Care Smart Cards. Methods: A one-group pretest-posttest study was carried out among 70 students of eleventh grade SMA 27 Jakarta. HIV AIDS knowledge and attitudes before and after the educative game were assessed using an online questionnaire. YARSI HIV AIDS Care Smart Cards were played in small groups (7 students) guided by mentors using an online video meeting platform. Result: There is a significant increase in HIV AIDS knowledge (score 65 vs. 90, p< 0.01) and students' attitudes (score 16.27 vs. 17.84, p< 0.01) after educative games. Conclusion: YARSI HIV AIDS Care Smart Cards have been proven to increase knowledge and change attitudes regarding HIV-AIDS among students.
